Generally regarded as the capital of the Scottish Highlands, the city of Inverness lies at the head of the Great Glen where the River Ness opens into the Moray Firth.
Both the UKs northernmost city and the fastest growing city in Europe, Inverness is ranked very highly nationally in terms of quality of life, partly due to the stunning scenery and historic architecture that the city is famous for.
The city itself as well as the surrounding area are a haven for walkers and sightseers with so many beautiful views on offer, not to mention historic locations such as the site of the Battle of Culloden which lies nearby.
In terms of retail, Inverness offers a mix of modern shopping areas such as the recently extended Eastgate Centre and smaller traditional retailers in and around the central market square, which is surrounded by glorious Victorian architecture.
